Our rings are bright blue anodised aluminium. They have a unique numbering method that complies with current legislation. They have a unique ring number and our 24hr telephone number on them, they are not year marked so can be kept for use another year. IBR rings are accepted for birds listed on Annex A and Schedule 4, Wildlife and Countryside Act. The ring number is held on the database against your name until we are told otherwise.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Rings cost £1 each (£5 for 5 rings/£10 for 10 rings) This price includes all the paperwork plus 3 month’s free registration until the bird is sold.

YOU WILL RECEIVE

1. A string of 5 or 10 closed rings. Details on how to fit them and how to complete the provided paperwork is included together with a roll of micro porous tape to help keep the rings in place.

2. A White Ring Form (one per ring)

Easy to fill in with the hatch date - return this to us, or phone/email us with the details when the ring is put on the bird to receive a Captive Breeding Certificate (in two parts). The top part is passed to the new keeper, the lower part should be completed with the new keeper’s details and be retained by you. These details must be passed to the IBR and so a letter can be sent inviting the new keeper to register their bird.

If you use the IBR App, all these details can be filled in by you which will save time on the phone or save on postage.

Having the new keeper details will help the IBR to quickly reunite any bird that is lost and found.

IF you follow the protocol and inform us of whom you sell your birds to, we will register the bird on behalf of the NEW KEEPER for 12 months for a £6.50 fee, which YOU can add on to the price of the bird. This will prevent you from being contacted in the future should the bird go missing.

If you ring your birds with IBR rings you are giving them a future. Whenever the bird flies, it is wearing a telephone number on a unique ring so if it is found it can be quickly returned to keeper. IBR rings are traceable. By using IBR rings you are giving the bird the service and care it deserves for the rest of its life, you are also promoting and helping to protect the future of falconry. The IBR have been supplying rings since 1994 and we continue to be the only efficient raptor return scheme available. Give the bird a flying start. New laws state that rings must be unique. This does not mean AB123. These can cause major headaches. Many people can have the same initials or use the same numbers. Our rings have a non-repeated number together with ‘IBR’ and our telephone number. This makes them unique.

Rings are supplied on the strict proviso that the IBR ring protocol is adhered to and that the rings are not transferred without informing the IBR. Failure to follow this protocol may result in you being refused rings at a later date.
